At receptions in both Los Angeles and New York, the DGA's Independent Directors Committees (IDC) welcomed filmmakers participating in Slamdance 2005.

On December 13, the East Coast reception was held in the DGA boardroom in New York City where IDC East members Marc Levin and Raymond DeFelitta spoke to filmmakers in attendance about the committee and the work the DGA is doing in the independent arena.

Two days later, IDC West member and festival participant Anthony Russo was the featured guest speaker during the West Coast reception held at DGA headquarters in Los Angeles. The event also featured helpful festival hints from Slamdance representatives Kathleen McInnis, Peter Baxter, Sarah Diamond and Dan Mirvish.
